With CVG, VIER provides a voice extension for Rasa to turn your chatbot programmed in Rasa into a voicebot. CVG enables your chatbot to:

Speech-to-Text (STT)

High-quality speech recognition, e.g. with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Watson. Specially trained language models can be used for the recognition of specific terms.

Text-to-Speech (TTS)

CVG uses the voices of Amazon Polly, Microsoft Azure, Nuance, Google Cloud and IBM Watson to generate the most natural speech output possible. With SSML (Speech Synthesis Markup Language), the speech output can be further optimised.

Contact Center Integration

There are already existing integrations with some contact centre platforms, and other solutions can be connected via open APIs.

Your voicebot in 3 steps

Install Rasa and develop bot

Rasa can be installed anywhere: in the cloud, on premise or in any data centre. Many companies developing chatbots and voicebots with Rasa start with Rasa open source on-premise. An installation guide is provided by Rasa. Rasa also provides a playground that can be used to develop bots without requiring an on-premise installation.

CVG Channel in Rasa

To create voicebots with Rasa and CVG, use our VIER CVG channel, which is provided in a separate package on GitHub. It needs to be installed as part of your Rasa installation and works with both Rasa Open Source and Rasa Enterprise.  
This VIER CVG channel in Rasa implements all CVG APIs relevant to bots to give you, the Rasa developer, the full power of CVG.

CVG account

In order for your bot to have a voice, you need a VIER CVG account. You can apply for one here. To configure the connection between your Rasa bot and CVG, simply select Rasa as your bot template in the CVG interface, enter your Rasa URL and token in the CVG project settings. That's it.

Test CVG with demo bot

We have built a voicebot with Rasa and VIER Cognitive Voice Gateway to show how simple query automation can be. This demo bot records meter readings from e.g. electricity and water meters.  

 
The bot identifies you by customer number and stores your meter readings. It takes the respective meter ID into account and checks the credibility of the meter reading you provided (maximum allowed difference).  

 
To test the bot as a caller, dial the following numbers: +442045863834 or sip:+4972198619302@sip.cognitivevoice.io. More info and instructions for using the demo bot can be found in our Github section.  

 
This meter reading bot is only a small demo. Rasa (and CVG) is much more powerful, try it out for yourself.
